Safari: April 11th to April 16th, 2021

Hey, everyone! We’ve got a whole safari this week. I’ve enjoyed working on this series because I really do love wild animals, so being able to draw them is super fun for me. It also feels like a fresh break from all the people I’ve been drawing for so long. Drawing animals helps me to practice forms in a new way, too – it makes me think in a different way.

This week, I was really inspired by my trip to Kruger National Park in South Africa. I loved seeing those wild animals on safari and I still think about that trip very, very fondly. The final illustration of this week’s share, “Favorite Days” is based on a picture that I took when on safari at Kruger. The lioness was laying in the shadow, just off the side of the safari road. She looked pensive, and powerful.

The other images are just from random reference images I found on the internet. My favorites from this week, aside from the lioness, are “Big Bear” and “Wildebeest.” Although, I do like most of these illustrations.

Which are your favorite from the week? Let me know! Contact me through the site or via instagram. Check out last week’s post as well.
