Hey, everyone! This week I’m excited to share that I worked on a couple of collaborations! Only two, but still – I’m excited to share them. In addition to the collaborations, we have more… BONDAGE! Surprise! Truly, this series is almost over so if you’re sick of it, you won’t have to see it for much longer. I have really enjoyed it, though.
As I mentioned in some past posts, I think exploring the shibari suspension allowed me to study the models in a way I hadn’t previously looked into very much. I feel like I learned a lot from this series.
My favorites from this week – aside from the collaborations – are “Uptied,” “Kneel Before Me,” and “A Little Too Dark, Maybe Not Enough.”
Okay – now onto the collaborations!
For “Bella,” I was reached out to by local musician Bella Hangnail. Bella reached out to me on instagram and asked if I would illustrate her album art… and like, hello, YES! It didn’t hurt that for reference, she wanted me to think of David Bowie’s Low album cover… which is just amazing. We went back and forth on some ideas, but Bella trusted my vision and allowed me to create something for her that she ended up being happy with. Yay! Check out Bella’s music here.
The second collaboration was with my lovely friend Michael, on the illustration titled “Michael Collab.” Michael was staying with me for an evening and before he arrived I was working on a drawing. I ended up doing the linework, but I thought it would be a cool idea if he colored in the drawing. I had done something a few months back with my nephew, but it was fun to do it with a friend of mine as well. It was interesting to see how he visualized the image and chose to color it in. It ended up being different than I would have expected, but I love that he turned the circular background into an eye. What a guy! Check out Michael’s instagram.
Well, that’s it for this week! Shoot me a message on instagram or contact me here with any interest in pieces/questions/comments/etc. Check out last week’s post as well, if you haven’t already. Happy 4th of July!
