This week we’re playing catch-up, baby! It’s been a couple of weeks since I’ve posted because I was on vacation. It was a lovely vacation spent with a good friend of mine in Colorado and New Mexico. Now I’m home and… again – playing catch-up!
My favorites from this weeks share are “Hypnotic,” “Something New,” and “Submissive,” with “Submissive” being my favorite and probably one of my favorites from the summer. I’ve mentioned before, I love drawing people who are turned away from the viewer. To me, they come across as enigmatic, but also they could be anyone – you, me, them, anyone.
One exciting thing about this week’s share is that I’m exploring that sort of “overexposed” look some more. You’ll see in the later images that I start to block out skin colors, separating the lights and the darks. In part, this was a way for me to start incorporating different skin tones. I wanted people’s skin tones to appear ambiguous – not necessarily black or white, but a combination of both, a blend of skin tones. It’s something I explored all through the summer, and I think until I finished my deck of playing cards (we’ll get there soon).
I hope you enjoy this week’s post. Be sure to check out my previous post, and as always, if you have any questions or if you’re interested in any pieces, feel free to contact me here or on instagram!
