Wow – the end of 2020… FINALLY! This week’s share is from December 25th, 2020 to January 2nd, 2021. A new year, baby! It’s currently May 5th of 2021, so we are still a little bit behind. Maybe one of these days I will post a bunch of stuff so we’re actually only a month out or so. I like to give myself some buffer time just in case I have some pieces I really don’t want to share. It would be nice to be more up to date, though. It feels a little strange to post things that were done so long ago. That’s what happens when you take a 6 month hiatus from posting, I guess!
I feel like 2020 was a good year for me artistically. I was able to spend a lot of time on my art, and a lot of time exploring. There were a lot of misses, but there were also a lot of pieces I am incredibly proud of. Ten years ago I never would have thought I could draw what I’m drawing today, yet here I am. I know I’m not perfect, or even insanely incredible – but I am devoted to this craft and I hope I never get discouraged enough to “quit art” ever again.
Favorites from this week are “Remember Me?”, “Strawberry Bitch,” “Aloe,” “Finale,” and “Dancing Queen.” I like most of these, to be honest. One cool thing about “Finale” – it was the last illustration I did of 2020, so I wanted to make it a good one. I tried to incorporate various different themes I was looking at throughout the year: amputations, spikes, sea creatures, northern lights, space people, my deck of cards, brightly colored skin, and more. I want to make it a goal to always have the last drawing of the year be really representative of the themes of the year. I think I did that well in 2020.
What are your faves? Let me know! DM me on instagram or reach out to me here. As always, check out last week’s post, too.
