This week we’ve got horns, skin grafts, and platform shoes! Welcome back. I hope you all enjoy this week’s art shares. These drawings range from May 16th to May 21st of 2020. In the thick of quarantine at this point! It’s so strange to have “quarantine” be such a things in our lives this year. The year is almost over – I hope talks of quarantine will soon be over as well.
In this week’s share, I explore a few themes – particularly things that disrupt the natural body. In the first image, we have three hands crawling out of a woman’s spine. Later, we see a woman’s bust with horns of flesh growing from her forehead. We have skin grafts and strange dinosaur-like growths. As I’m sure you all have gathered at this point, I love combining the beauty of humans with things that sort of “interrupt” their natural flow.
Sometimes it’s tough to find a reference for what exactly I’m trying to draw, and that can be a hindrance at times. I have to rely on my imagination, which often doesn’t look quite as three dimensional when translated to a piece of paper than if I were looking at a reference image. That said, I’m mostly happy with how this round of drawings turned out.
I hope you enjoy them! Please feel free to message me through my website or DM me on instagram with any interest in these pieces – or just to say hello!
